Field Goal

If an Offense has driven the ball to the opponents side of the field but is not able to get either a First Down or a Touchdown then a Field Goal may be attempted. A field goal is a Special Teams kicking action where an offensive kicker attempts to kick the ball through the field goal posts or "uprights". If successful, the offense adds 3 points to the scoreboard. Play then proceeds to a Kickoff. If unsuccessful, the opposing team receives the ball at the spot where the field goal was attempted, which is 7 yards behind the original Line of Scrimmage. Play then proceeds to a Kickoff.

Remark: A Field foal distance is measured by adding 17 yards to the distance to the goalline. Example: you kick from 30 yards away of the opponents goalline, then this is counted as an 47 yards Field Goal attempt.
